How Do Therapists Know?

shutterstock_73217770We don’t. We don’t know if and when someone will snap, and how far they will go. What we do know is that most mental illness is not violent. Certainly not Aspergers and all the other diagnosis that have been tossed around in the last few weeks about Adam Lanza, the shooter at the elementary school in Connecticut.

Sadly, the people who desperately need a correct diagnosis, medication, and therapy most likely are not being evaluated for what is really happening in their brains, let alone getting treatment. And once the voices start speaking, it’s usually too late.
